It's Tuesday August 20th, and we are on the last leg of our journey to NYC. This morning, from the Cortlandt Marina, we set off late, as everyone was just a bit lazy today, although it was a nice morning and we didn't have to rush to get on the water. We pushed off the dock at 10:30 am and anticipated arrival at around 2 pm at the Hudson Point Marina.

Newly Appointed Captain Kyle posing for his portrait
Today, was a special moment for our crew as we promoted one of our members to a much higher level of command. It was well deserved.
Kyle started out as a Swabbie, on Out To See, at a very young age of 14 during our trip to Ottawa. Learning how to tie knots, fender placement and of course, swabbing the decks, he was a sponge with regard to boating details.
He graduated to 1st mate on this trip, and he learned to maneuver through the locks and dock with ease, professionalism, and confidence. He has shown a knowledge of safety on the water, especially with regard to regulatory rules when boating. As a result of this dedication and the skill of learning, he has moved up the ladder.
We are all proud to announce that he will now be referred to as "CAPTAIN KYLE."
The winds were higher today and the water was rougher than what we had experienced so far, but because we were at high tide the rolling waters were behind us and we were moving at 17 km/hr. all the way into the city.
Captain Paul and the new Captain, thought it would be a good idea to give our blog readers an over view of the helm, and some of the instruments that help us navigate, so we made a video to outline some of the features of Out To See. Here is an overview of the Helm on Out To See.
We didn't pass much on the way down the Hudson but there certainly were nice homes and interesting bridges that we went under.
And when we came around a bend and there was the city that never sleeps.

We set up a camera on a tri-pod, and took a timelapse video of our 45 minute ride on the Hudson River with Manhattan on our Port Side, and it took us right into our marina, where we tied up for the week. Enjoy our 45 minute boat ride from the George Washington Bridge in less than a minute, to the marina and right into our slip. The marina was very small and the channel narrow so docking was a bit of a challenge. We just fit.

Our crew at the 9-11 Memorial
We docked the boat, tied it up, put on our walking shoes and headed into the city for a tour of the 9-11 Memorial and the lower Financial District. There are just too many photos to post so I selected a few.
We took the Path Subway from the New Jersey side, where our marina is located, to the Exchange Station under the 9-11 memorial. When we returned and walked back to our boat, we passed some interesting art and had to post a group for you to admire.
The city was was lit up with the sunlight as we walked back to our boat.

We finally arrived and are looking forward to the week in NYC. Tomorrow it is a tour of the 9-11 Museum and Times Square. Stay Tuned.
Here is our Nebo Log for the day where we travelled 65 Km in 3.30 hours at an average speed of 18.3 km.
