After a rainy evening we woke this morning to a cloudy day but the winds were gentle and no rain was in the forecast. We knew we would have a good cruise to Trenton where the entrance to the Trent Canal was located.

Last evening we were looking to satisfy Swabbie's hunger for another Beaver Tail so the two of us donned our raincoats and went into town for his favorite treat. We didn't get wet but we sure stood out amongst the crowd as we walked.

This morning we left Kingston Confederation Basin around 8 am with Swabbie still asleep. Our plan was to get to Trenton where we would meet up with our diesel mechanic and see if he could repair our generator. On the way to Trenton we stopped in Belleville for a pump out and fuel. We were sure running low on everything and our waste tanks were full.

As we neared the Trent Port Marina our port engine shutdown on high temperature. Just another thing to have our service guy look at when he gets here today. While waiting for him to arrive, Swabbie and Jan went for a dingy ride to get drinking water and a few groceries. They passed a Thrift Store by the waterway. Surprisingly they didn't fill the dingy with any purchases other than the water.

During their river tour in the dingy, they came upon few interesting things and Swabbie relaxed as Jan shopped in the Thrift Store.

When our mechanic arrived and did some inspection we found that our water intake strainers for the water to cool our engines were plugged and the port engine was overheating. We removed the strainers, cleaned the weeds and debris from them and problem solved. That was the good news. The bad news seems to be that a circuit board is blown in the generator and we can't get power to it and get it started. We are looking at an alternative idea to get it to run in a manual on/off mode. Tomorrow we will know more.

Tonight Swabbie and the Captain strolled around the marina only to find a 55 ft. Fleming yacht. What a beauty. They are one of a kind and amazing passage boats.

Good night all!

The Hallman Experience: Why is our port engine so hot and overheating?

Solution: With all the weeds and algae in the water this year we need to clean the water intake strainers regularly. Captain - do more maintenance daily.

Tomorrow is a do nothing day but we may do something anyways !

Hey Captain Underpants - just the fact that Jan is sitting in the front of the dinghy makes it the first class section😊.
