This morning we left the Trent Port Marina and entered the Trent Severn Waterway on our return to Midland. For the past month we have been on the water dodging some of the rain storms. We always seemed to be on the edge of the rain, and only having to travel a couple days in the wet but apparently the storms have dumped water into the rivers and we are now seeing the effects. As we boated towards Lock 2 we could see the current pick up and the water flowing over the dams at the first few locks. When we spoke to one of the lock staff they told us that today there was 118 cu feet of water per second flowing downstream and when it gets to 125 they shut down several locks because it's too difficult to maneuver into the locks. We had a bit of a challenge as we entered the locks and they insisted we lock on the starboard side due to the high currents in each lock. As a matter of reference, the currents, when we went down the Trent one month ago was 18 cu feet per second........ barely no flow.
We traveled through the locks with one other boat and they had a special occupant. Jan has been having a case of "missing her Fynn", a very special pup that visits our home twice daily, today she had a little treat. Sitting on the flybridge of the boat traveling with us was a Border Collie and what a beauty. We're just hoping that "Mr Fancypants Fynn", and his owners aren't jealous.

It was a long day, somewhat overcast but humid with no wind so we were hot. Along the way we saw several interesting spots on the shores.
We had a most interesting start to our day when Jan, jokingly asked a lock staffer named Jodie, who was enjoying her morning coffee,"Where's my coffee?" only to be given a Tim Hortons coffee cup filled with a hot coffee at the top of the lock. She asked that we return the mug to her partner Kevin at Lock 5. Thanks Jodie....... we were impressed with you kindness. We did return her mug.

Today Swabbie replaced Alice on the bow as we passed through the locks. He was par excellance, did a superb job....... but he doesn't do dishes. Good job today Swabbie.
By the time we got to Campbellford, we were hot, tired and hungry so we decided to go out for dinner at Capers. Great meal and tasty dessert. Jan had liver and onions, Captain had Pork Snitzel and Swabbie had a burger, every meal was great, but the carrot cake cheesecake took the honour.
After dinner we were ready to crash. We played a couple of games, then decided bedtime was a better idea.We had a great day on the water with no issues.. Tomorrow we are off to Peterbourgh.

The Hallman Experience: Does it make sense to put yourself through more work when you're pooped?
Solution: nope...Go out for dinner
We're enjoying the Trent, even though we've been past these places before.

Mr Fancy Pants says, "Bring on the competition but I know my good friend Jan will love me more than any other.♥️
