We are docked in Cambellford for two nights as we avoid bad weather and winds
THURSDAY JUNE 21, 1951
It was a Thursday, under the sign of Cancer. The Canadian Prime Minister at that time was Louis St. Laurent and the US president was Harry S. Truman. The UK Prime Minister was Clement Attle, and Pope Pius XII was head of the Catholic Church. In that particular week of June, people were listening to Because of You by Tony Bennett. The movie, Strangers on a Train, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, was one of the most viewed movie released in 1951 while A Woman Called Fancy by Frank Yerby was one of the best selling books.
Yup - June 21st - The First day of Summer & The longest day of the year.
But much more happened that day - My mom gave birth to me and into the world came Paul Gordon Hallman (Captain to be precise) and that was a long time ago - 70 Years to be exact and I can't believe that my health and my life has been my so blessed. Now, with my beautiful wife Jan, we have four kids between us and 9 grandkids in total, the last one born a week ago. I am lucky and thankful for each passing day and this morning, Jan, Kyle and Cynthia started my 70th birthday off on a high note.

At 7 am Cynthia presented me with a "Special Birthday Card" and a nice bottle of Booze. Whiskey to be exact. Then Kyle and Jan decorated the boat with Happy Birthday signs and we had a little party. How lucky am I. Oh yeah, I got another Whiskey and lots of chocolates.

They proceeded to give me three beautiful hats and advised me that I had to wear them all day, and I could choose the time and the hat to wear. I fulfilled that request.
Cynthia spent the better part of the day preparing a fabulous dinner, complete with Lemon Pie - my Favorite. Thanks Alice (only the Crew will understand that comment).
The excitement of the day was when Jan and Kyle went to the local laundromat to wash the bed sheets and pillows. Jan used two washers and put two pillows in one machine and the sheets and one pillow in another. After the cycles were completed they opened the doors and were surprised to see that the machine had not only destroyed the pillows but it never even got the sheets clean. I was not there but according to Kyle (Swabbie) his Mama was pissed.
Jan phoned the owner of the Laundromat and when he came over he said it was not his fault. After much arguing he offered Jan $20 to replace the three pillows - that was pittence. Even then Jan asked for her money back for the washing costs and he proposed that he pay for her to rewash them. Little did he know that Jan was going to reply, "There is no way I am putting any more of my items back in any of your machines" so she got up and left.

A quick stop at a local store and we now have 3 new pillows and they were much more than the $20 he gave us.
Tomorrow we will head out of Cambellford for Frankford, where we will spend the evening on the town dock in hopes that we get our replacement prop on Wednesday.
It was windy today and Swabbie and Captain did small fix'em up things on the boat and chatted with other boaters at the dock specifically the Greenline 40 Hybrid boat that is travelling to Ottawa from Windsor using a combination of Diesel and Solar.
The Hallman Experience Day 7:
