Brunch on the Coral Princess

Today is our second day at sea since leaving Kona, Hawaii, and we have a few more days to go before we get to our next destination which is Raiatea, French Polynesia.

We're passing our time today relaxing and catching up on some social media. Jan's doing her crocheting. There's comfy chairs outside the Wheelhouse Bar and a perfect place to settle for a good view of the rolling seas.

The water has been moderately calm, but as of mid afternoon today the winds were picking up. Now they are 30 km per hour from the east with 10 foot swells and an humid outdoor temperature of 30C. There's some whitecaps, but not too many and as long as the ocean stays like this it'll be a smooth cruise to our next port. There's not been a bird in sight nor any sea life, but being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean says it all. However, yesterday, one passenger saw a Brown Booby Duck on her veranda and had to call security to have it removed. Maybe it was trying to hitch a ride to Fiji.

This morning at 8 am Jan and I went to the Tai Chi class for 45 minutes of stretching and calm relaxation. We've been attending these sessions on most sea days and we find it a benefit to loosen up our bodies. There's about 150 people every day that participate and it's held in one of the theaters. It can be a challenge with the ship rolling over the waves.

Today our Executive Chef prepared a special brunch and served it in the main dining room from 10:00 am to 1 pm. We were told that this luncheon is well worth it so it's better to get there early so you can see the special effects and displayed foods.

Here is a selection of much of the food:

The watermelon designs were creative, especially using the red interior as flower petals

When the doors opened for the buffet there were lineups waiting to enter, and the lineups continued till the noon hour. It's a very popular event on the Princess Ships.

We made sure we were there to get as many interesting photos as we could before the food started to disappear. It was a creative layout and although we tried not to eat very much but we did indulge in a donut and cake.

There are no Tim Hortons on board so to find a regular iced donut was a treat.

This evening we went to the theatre for a stage show and I will post video of that performance another time. Tomorrow at precisly 1 pm, the ship will cross the equator and the Captain is hosting a CROSS THE EQUATOR party on the pool level. After the crossing we will meet up with some guests that we have met onboard for some card and board games as they've been a great way to meet others and have a good laugh. Another busy day onboard the Coral Princess.
